Upcoming events and announcements at CLC include the following.

Be sure to also check the calendar on the website,

as well as our Events page on Facebook.

Shepherd Tree:  We are once again teaming up with Kid's Alive this Christmas season to provide gifts to children in need.  Kid's Alive is a Christian outreach that was founded in 1997 by Pastor Doug Hoffman and his wife Lorraine.  They meet Saturday mornings at North Avenue Alliance Church and bring the Word of God to inner city families in the Burlington area.  Please consider choosing an ornament and making a child smile!  The Christmas party is December 14 this year, so items need to be returned by Sunday, December 8.  Remember, the gift wishes are suggestions and you are not expected to get everything on the list.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Lisa Lopes.

Sunday School in December: On December 8 and 15 between 11 a.m. and noon we will hold our Christmas program practice in the sanctuary. On December 15 after practice, we will have pizza in the fellowship hall and then travel to Whites Tree Farm together to cut a Christmas tree for the program. Please join us on Sunday, December 22 at 10:00 a.m. for the Children’s Christmas Program: God’s Family Tree, Based on the Jesse Tree Tradition.

December Women’s Guild Meeting: You are invited to the Women's Guild Christmas Dinner on Tuesday, December 3 at 6:00 p.m.  The main dish will be ham with delicious accompanying sides.  Everything will be provided; the Board members will do the preparing, cooking and cleaning-up ~ how can you say no to an invitation like this!  Please sign up on the list in the entryway on the round table.  We hope you will join us for an evening of wonderful fellowship.

Men’s Bible Study in December: The next men’s gathering will be Saturday, December 7, at 8:00 a.m. We will discuss chapter three of the book, “Five Things You Can Do to Have a Faithful Prayer Life,” from Concordia Publishing House. If you need a copy of the book, please speak with Pastor Rasmussen.

Voter’s Meeting: The next voter’s meeting will be on Sunday, December 8, between 11 a.m. and noon.

Summit Club in December: On Thursday, December 12, we will be hosting our annual Christmas potluck. We will meet at church at noon. Please bring a dish to share. Beverages will be provided. Let’s share some Christmas memories and good fellowship. Also, let’s not forget the hungry and bring something for the food basket.

Soup supper: Soup suppers begin Wednesday, December 4, and continue on December 11 and 18 at 6:00 p.m. each week. Sign-ups are in the narthex for all three events if you would like to contribute.

December Mission of the Month: Veterans of the Cross: Each December, it seems fitting that we remember with gratitude the retired Lutheran pastors, deaconesses and teachers who faithfully served our church people, bringing us the wonderful news of the Word made flesh. Many of these pastors, teachers and their spouses have difficulties meeting even basic needs due to staggering medical expenses. Why, you ask? Because of a lifetime of service in small or struggling congregations that were unable to afford full-time salaries, these workers received a lower benefits contribution into their Concordia Plan Services retirement account. Faithful donors and an endowment provide the funding so that Concordia can provide monthly benefits of $500 to $1,000 making it possible for retirees and widows to afford the cost of necessities like medication, food and electricity. Generous giving enables these stipends to continue as long as needed. Please give generously to the Veterans of the Cross, as a token of gratitude for their service to us.
